Saturday was hottest day for Mumbai in November

While the maximum temperature recorded at Santacruz on Saturday was 37.6 degree Celsius, at Colaba the maximum temperature recorded was 36 degree Celsius.

Saturday earned the distinction of being as the hottest day recorded in November, in Mumbai, with maximum temperature touching 37.6 degree Celsius. The previous record was of 37.4 degree Celsius in 1979 and 2003.

While the maximum temperature recorded at Santacruz on Saturday was 37.6 degree Celsius, at Colaba the maximum temperature recorded was 36 degree Celsius.

Officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) say there was a delay in the sea breeze setting in which lead to the mercury surge. The temperature had crossed 35 degree Celsius by 11 am itself. "During the night and morning, we experience easterly wind, and north-westerly wind in the day. There should be some respite soon as light rain is expected in central Maharashtra and Mumbai over the next two days," he said.

As per Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, a trough is extending from east central Arabian Sea to north central Maharashtra, which will cast clouds over central Maharashtra, Konkan and parts of Marathwada. "Day temperatures will drop, and morning temperatures will rise," it predicted.
