The Nagpada police along with the Varanasi police have managed to trace two of the three children who had allegedly gone missing from Naya Nagar in Madanpura area of Nagpada on Sunday evening. The third child, a boy, is yet to be traced, the police said.

On Sunday, three minors Kulsum Khan (6), Tarannum Sheikh (6) and her brother Gulfan (4) had gone missing from their Madanpura residence. They were last spotted playing outside their home. Following their disappearance, the family had lodged a missing person complaint with the Nagpada police.

According to sources, following the disappearance, the family had visited a child helpline centre in the vicinity and informed them about the disappearance of the children from Nagpada. The helpline centre officials then relayed the information to their branches across the country.

Senior inspector Shivaji Kadam said, "We have successfully traced two of the three missing children and are trying our best to trace Gulfan. The child helpline centre in Nagpada informed us that it got a call from Asmita childline centre in Varanasi, stating that two missing girls from Nagpada were found by the Chetganj police in Varanasi from the railway station and handed over to Asmita officials."

He added that a police team has been dispatched to Varanasi to take custody of the girls. "Once we speak to the girls only then will we come to know how they travelled till Varanasi and where Gulfan could be," he said.
