Discom tighten noose to tackle power theft

Jaipur discom has got stricter with the electricity thieves and has arrested 658 offenders in this financial year. 

This is a massive jump of 182.40% in arrest cases when compared to last financial year, 2016-17 when 233 arrests for electricity theft were made.

Challan were submitted in 365 cases this year as against 210 challans submitted last year. The number of FIR’s filed in electricity theft cases have also increased from 9,518 done last year to 9,809 done this year.

Apart from this figure, there are other data too which suggest that the electricity theft has been checked enormously.

In Dholpur itself on Wednesday,  action was taken by discom team when 20 people were found involved in electricity theft. Large amount of electricity cables which were stolen were recovered.

In the ongoing financial year there has also been a massive increase in the amount collected from offenders as penalty in electricity theft cases .

Giving the information, R G Gupta, managing director of Jaipur discom informed that even the company employees found engaged in electricity theft have not been spared and 11 such employees have been arrested. In future too, strict action will be taken against electricity thieves.
