An ‘unbalanced’ policeman tried to breach Omar Abdullah’s security when he rushed towards the chief minister when he was boarding a chopper after attending a function in RS Pora in Jammu.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Omar was leaving after addressing the newly elected panches and sarpanches in RS Pora in Jammu. As he was moving towards the makeshift helipad, a cop in uniform rushed towards him to the surprise of the security men present there.

Reports said he shouted slogans and tried to go near Omar. Security personnel overpowered him and whisked him away.

Omar said the incident was no big deal.

‘Wow, I can't believe a non event was made such a big deal of. My security wasn't breached and I didn't face any threat from the unarmed chap,’ he tweeted.

He said the policeman who charged at him seemed to be unbalanced.

‘I am really touched some of you cared enough to ask but seriously I didn't even notice anything other than the fact that he seemed unbalanced,’ he added.

Lasy year, Abdul Ahad Jan, a police head constable, became the poster boy of street protestors when he hurled a shoe at Omar during the Independence Day celebrations in Srinagar.

Though Omar pardoned him, he was dismissed from service a few months ago.  The police claimed Jan’s termination was because of his long absence from duty and other criminal charges pending against him.

This time around Twitter is abuzz with the jokes about the shoe throwing.

‘Was he (the cop who charged at Omar at RS Pora) wearing shoes?’ Parmjit Singh asked Omar on Twitter.

To this chief minister quickly replied: ‘I didn't notice but I assume he was. He didn't throw them at me if that's what you are hinting at.’
