A three-year-old son of a businessman was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified men when he was returning home from a nursery school here today, police said.
Sohun Goutam (3), son of Sandeep Goutam, was whisked away in a jeep after the kidnappers beat up the businessman's servant who was taking the boy home in a scooter this afternoon, they said.
The incident took place in Hanuman Vatika locality in the civil township area.
The servant, Suresh Mahanand, lodged a missing report with the police.
No call has been received by the boy's family till evening, the police said.
A search operation has been launched to trace the child and nab the kidnappers.
Police do not rule out the possibility of business rivalry to be the reason behind the abduction.
