Minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor today made light of the articulation by CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat of the reports suggesting that LeT operative David Hadley was a US double agent.

"How can I say anything about such a comment. I haven't read novels for a long time," a smiling Tharoor told reporters here on the sidelines of the Manorama year-book launch function.

He was asked to react to the Left leader's statement in the Rajya Sabha.

During Zero Hour in the Upper House earlier today, Karat, quoting reports, said that Headley, earlier a drug smuggler, worked as an undercover agent of the US intelligence agency CIA since 1999 and the US government helped him make frequent trips to Pakistan.

She also said the FBI was aware of Headley's antecedents even before Mumbai blasts, and sought to know from the government if the US agency was passing on real time intelligence to Indian agencies.
