Ten kilo rice for poor families in Puducherry due to rains

With heavy rains continued to pour in the union territory, the administration has announced distribution of 10 kg free rice to poor families covered under the `red colour ration cards`, chief minister VVaithilingam told reporters here today.

Five fishermen from Vambakeerapalayam who had gone into the sea for fishing faced a critical situation when their fibre boat was tossed up by strong waves.

However, all of them managed to return, official sources said.
