The CPI (Maoists) has called for bandh in extremist-hit Palamu division comprising Palamu, Latehar and Garwah districts in protest against alleged custodial death of Rajendra Yadav, a murder accused, on December 31 last.
Earlier, Rajendra Yadav was arrested by the police from Chatarpur police station on December 30 last and rushed to Sadar hospital a day after but the doctors declared him brought dead.
The family members alleged police high handedness as the cause behind Yadav's death.
Yadav's post-mortem was conducted twice after the family members made a hue and cry at the hospital. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand government has ordered a probe into the alleged custodial death of Yadav and formed a two committee team headed by Murarilal Meena, DIG (special branch).
The team had visited Palamu and examined the family members as well as jail authorities in this regard yesterday.
The team, which included NN Pandey, energy secretary of Jharkhand, would submit its report to the state government soon.
