ONGC to set up Oil Museum at Ahmedabad Science Centre

Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has proposed to set up an oil museum at the science centre city here, to mark golden jubilee celebrations of Ahmedabad Asset in April 2011.
    
ONGC executive director Ahmedabad Asset Anil Johri met Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today, and apprised him about the this mega project proposed to be commissioned on 1,000 square metre plot, to mark 50 years of ONGC Ahmedabad Asset here, an official release issued here said today.
    
During his meeting with Modi, Johri also presented a replica of Sucker Road Pump, a modern pump which operates on latest technology to enhance oil production from ageing wells. ONGC has installed nearly 2,000 such modern pumps at various sites.
    
The third of its kind oil museum to be set up in India will showcase models on world class technology used to locate oil wells, mapping geological topography of oil fields, exploration techniques used, and transformation of by products like oil, wax, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from crude oil.
    
The first oil museum of ONGC was set up in Dehradun, the second one was set up at Lunej near Khambat housing the first oil well of ONGC, and now third one has been proposed to be set up in Ahmedabad, he added.
