ONGC gas pipeline busts in east Godavari

A gas pipeline belonging to Oil and National Gas Corporation (ONGC) busted tonight here causing panic among locals, police said.

The pipe bust was reported from Ponnamanda Village in east Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, they said.

Locals informed police when they heard a loud explosion and noticed flames billowing out the gas pipeline passing through the village.

The officials of ONGC and GAIL have been informed about the bust and they are expected to reach the site soon, a top official said.
