Ahead of the second phase assembly polls on December two in Jharkhand, CPI (Maoist) has called for a 48-hour state-wide bandh from midnight tonight.

"Yes, we have the information. Security has been tightened," deputy inspector general of Police RK Mallick told PTI.

When asked that the banned outfit was enforcing the bandh to demand production of its South Chhotanagpur Zonal Committee leader Ashok Mahto in a court, Mullick denied arrest of any Maoist with that name.

The bandh call comes amid campaigning by various political parties with their top leaders criss-crossing the Maoist-infested areas.

The campaigning comes to an end on November 30.
