Terming as “meaningless” the state-wide bandh called by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad tomorrow, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated that the UPA government led by Congress was responsible for the escalating prices of essential commodities.

”None other than the UPA government led by Congress at the Centre is responsible for the rocketing prices of essential commodities”, Kumar on a four-day sojourn of this key Buddhist pilgrim centre, told reporters.

Apparently referring to Lalu Prasad and LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan, Kumar said “the leaders from Bihar who had been part of UPA till 2009 Lok Sabha elections are also responsible for the price rise”.

While Prasad was railway minister, Paswan had held the charge of steel, chemicals and fertiliser ministry in the UPA-1 government.

”When the NDA was in power, there was ‘total control’ over prices of commodities”, Kumar said and added that the prices started rising after the UPA came to power.
