Ishrat Jahan and Javed Sheikh were detained on June 12, 2004 from Mumbai and their mobile phones and watches were seized by the police. Magistrate SP Tamang had stated in his report that when Ishrat and Javed were detained, their watches and mobile phones were taken away by the police.

Both of them were kept at a secret place in Ahmedabad and were allowed to have food till afternoon on June 14, 2004. Tamang in his report had mentioned that the FSL report says that there was some yellowish material found from the stomach of the victims. Both of them were killed one by one between 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm on June 14, 2004.

Tamang had also pointed out that they were killed with the service revolver and were forced to sit and were shot from a very short distance at some secret location. Noting about the exact timing of the killings, Tamang had mentioned that Amjad, Ishrat and Jisan was killed between 11 pm to 12 am on June 14 night, and Javed was killed between 8:30 pm 9:00 the same day.

Their bodies were kept along with the already detained and killed Amjad Ali and Jisan Johar, allegedly the Pakistani agents. He had pointed out that the bodies were put in the front and rear seats. Amjad's body was adjusted in the left rear seat and an AK-47 gun was kept near his hand. A 9 mm gun was kept between Javed's legs.

The police fired around 50 rounds on their own Gypsy and on the road to show that there was a real shootout. The 50 empty cartridges from AK-56 were found from the scene of crime which proves that AK-56 was used to fire on the police car and on road.

However, even though the police have mentioned that 18 rounds of fire were shot from the service revolver of JG Parmar (4 rounds), NK Amin (5), Tarun Barot (6) and IK Chauhan(3), not even a single empty cartridge was found from the scene of crime.

After that, the police kept an unlocked suitcase with the facility of number locking, 30 coconuts, watches and mobile phones in the boot space of the car. His report says that if someone keeps cash in the bag, he or she will surely lock it. No one keeps their mobile and watch in the boot space.

However, immediately after the report was made public, the state government reacted and said that "the report is bad in law and made in a hurry".
