Hike in fuel prices "callous and anti-people": J&K CPI(M)

Criticising the Centre for the hike in fuel prices, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) today said the "callous and anti-people" decision is a crucial blow to the common man, who are already suffering due to the runaway increase in the prices of food and essential commodities.

"The Central government has shown its callous and anti-people character by hiking prices of petro products," CPI(M) state secretary MY Tarigami said and demanded immediate roll back of the prices.
   
"The decision of the central government to inflict a steep rise in fuel prices is a cruel blow to the people, who are already suffering due to the runaway increase in the prices of food and essential commodities," he said.

The decision to deregulate the price of petrol is going to prove disastrous for the economy and the country, he said.
