Justice Ravi Tripathi of Gujarat high court has put stay on the order of session court, which granted bail to Babu Jamanadas Patel, a BJP MLA who had filed for anticipatory bail to evade arrest in the Nidhrad village land dispute case.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the session court granted bail to Patel, but the petitioners filed an application before the  high court seeking a stay on session court's order.

As per case details, a complaint was filed against Patel, an MLA from Dascroi, and his aides for allegedly beating up the owners of a prime land stretch located in the Nidhrad village in Sanand.

Patel's aide allegedly beat up the family members over the issue of land possession; they had to be admitted to the VS hospital. Patel, however, denied the accusations and said he was not involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the district police filed a chargesheet against the accused, but it did  not include Patel's name.

The police, however, registered charges against Patel for using fake documents to claim the land. To escape arrest Patel had filed for anticipatory bail.
