A threat letter from a Godhra resident to the vice-chancellor of Gujarat University has sent the varsity authorities in a tizzy. They have quickly filed a police complaint.

The matter came to light when the V-C received a letter written by one Hanif Kartooswala, warning him of dire consequences because, despite holding degrees from the university, he has failed to secure a job.

The letter was also addressed to CM Narendra Modi and education minister, Ramanlal Vora. A police complaint has been lodged by the university authorities at the Gujarat University police station in this regard.

Kartooswala's letter states that he had decided to take this step as, despite having earned degrees in MA and BEd, he still has not been able to land a job.

The letter went on to allege that he held the education system responsible for his present condition. Hence he has threatened the authorities.

University officials said that they were now contemplating beefing up the security of the V-C.  Though no decision has yet been taken, the university officials will first decide one the authenticity and seriousness of the letter before taking further steps.
