Goa board recalls error-hit Class X marksheets

Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has recalled several marksheets of Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) after major errors cropped up in them, officials have stated.

The errors crept in the marksheets due to mistakes committed by the respective schools, GBSHSE Chairman Mervyn D'Souza said.

The results of SSCE (Class X) were declared on June 7.

Last month, the board had to recall thousands of Higher Secondary School Certification Examination (HSSCE) or Class XII marksheets following computation mistake. The board had tendered an apology to the parents for the mistake.

D'Souza maintained that this time the schools erred while giving the internal marks to the students. "There was a mismatch between the students and their roll numbers."

He said fresh marksheets are already being issued to the students as the admission process for Class XI has begun. The board has decided to penalise the schools by asking them to pay for each marksheet besides imposing fine on them.

The results showed a record 86.05% students clearing SSCE examination conducted in March-April. In all, 13,191 of the 15,329 students who appeared for the exam passed.
