Former militant shot at in Kashmir, critically injured

A former militant was shot and critically injured by suspected ultras in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.

Mohammad Iqbal Malla was shot by "unidentified gunmen" at his Qazipora residence in Bandipora town, 55km from Sringar, last night, the spokesman said.

He said Malla, who had shunned the path of violence after his arrest some years back, was admitted to a hospital here for specialised treatment.
