Eight persons were killed and about 12 others injured, four of them seriously, when a jeep carrying pilgrims was hit by a state roadways bus on the National Highway-24 in the district.

Eight persons were killed and about 12 others injured, four of them seriously, when a jeep carrying pilgrims was hit by a state roadways bus on the National Highway-24 in the district, police said today.
The accident took place near village Badarkha last evening, they said.
The jeep was coming from Moradabad and was carrying pilgrims who wee returning after taking a holy dip in the Ganges on the occasion of Ganga dussehra.
Police said eight persons have died in the jeep-busm collision. Four of them have been identified as Harender, 34 (the driver of the jeep), Shorajwati (55), Dayawati (34) and Premwati (35).
The injured have been taken to a hospital where the condition of four are stated to be critical.
A case of rash and negligent driving has been lodged.
