A Delhi court would tomorrow hear the bail plea of a senior Home Ministry official and a co-accused in a scam involving purchase of bullet-proof jackets for central paramilitary forces.

Additional Sessions Judge OP Saini has fixed the bail applications of MHA official Radhey Shyam Sharma and RK Gupta, a director of a Delhi-based company involved in production of defence equipment, for hearing tomorrow.

The applications have been filed on statutory ground as CBI has failed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated period of 60 days.

However, co-accused Laveena Gupta, wife of RK Gupta, is out on bail in the case.

Earlier, the court had remanded the remaining accused to judicial custody till June 19 when they were produced on expiry of their judicial remand.

Sharma, an Indian Railway and Engineering Officer of 1984 batch, is accused of accepting Rs 10 lakh as bribe in the purchase of bullet-proof jackets for central paramilitary forces.

Sharma, along with the Gupta couple, both directors of the company, were booked under various penal provisions dealing with charges of giving and accepting bribe and conspiracy.

The MHA official has also been charged with misconduct by a public servant.
