Demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on illegal mining issue, the BJP Friday accused the Congress of adopting double standards in the Lok Ayukta case.
"Congress and the UPA should not adopt double standards. Earlier when there was a report by Lok Ayukta, even without waiting for filing of FIR, the entire Congress party demanded Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's resgination.
"Now, how can Congress justify the continuation of Krishna as a Cabinet Minister after registration of FIR against him?," BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu asked.
Attacking the Congress, he said, "They did not act upon Shunglu Committee report against Shiela Dikshit. They did not act upon the Delhi Lok Ayukta report against Rajkumar Chouhana and now they are keeping mum on the FIR against Krishna."
There was uproar in both Houses of Parliament over the mining scam as Opposition demanded resignation of Krishna.
"The BJP demands that Prime Minister should immediately dismiss SM Krishna from his responsibility and allow the law to take its own course. If Krishna will remain at the helm of affairs of External Affairs Ministry, then you cannot expect fair investigation in the case. That is why we demand his immediate resignation."
