The chief minister, BS Yeddyurappa’s writ appears not to be running in the BJP, notwithstanding the efforts made by the ruling party to project a united face over the past few days. Not only MLAs, even members of his ministry are not heeding to the chief minister’s tips to tone up the administration and improve the image of the party.

On Monday, Yeddyurappa had called a ministers’ meeting and had submitted a three-page time-table on “What to do and what not to do”. He had also asked the ministers to prepare their own time-table and work schedule and submit it to him within two days. But three days later, till late on Thursday evening, not a single minister had submitted his or her time-table and work schedule to the chief minister.

On Thursday morning, the issue came up at the cabinet meeting. “Where is the time-table and work schedule? I had given you two days’ time. But three days have gone by. No minister has submitted any time-table to me. What is the reason?” Yeddyurappa reportedly asked his ministers.

However, there was no response from the ministers. They are believed to have looked at each others face. An embarrassed chief minister is said to have stormed out of the meeting hall.
According to sources, Yeddyurappa is upset with the development. He wanted to bring about some change in the functioning of his ministers and had offered to even change his working style. “But none of the minister is ready to co-operate with him. Naturally, the chief minister is hurt,” the sources added.
In the time-table he had handed over to his ministers, the chief minister had insisted that all the ministers should stay in Vidhana Soudha for at least two days a week and conduct departmental review meetings as there were complaints that none of them came to Soudha regularly.

He had also advised the ministers go to their in-charge districts to conduct review of developmental programmes and ensure that they were speeded up.

According to the time-table, the chief minister had to conduct meeting with officers every Monday. He was to hold discussions with party MLAs on Tuesday and receive suggestions from them on the development of the state. He had asked his ministers to clear all pending files on priority basis. The chief minister had also directed all the ministers to submit monthly report cards on developmental activities.
