JM Panchal, SV Raju and Vijay Patel, lawyers appearing on behalf of the MLA, contended that, the police has falsely implicated the MLA in the case.
Babu Jamnadas Patel, a BJP MLA has filed for anticipatory bail to evade his arrest in the Nidhrad village land dispute case. The village is part of Sanand taluka.
Patel, an MLA from Dascroi, has moved an anticipatory bail application before the judge of the Ahmedabad district court at the Mirzapur court campus.
Earlier, a complaint was filed against Patel and his aides for allegedly for beating up owners of a prime land stretch situated at the Nidhrad village in Sanand. Patel's aide allegedly beat up the family members over the land possession and they had to be admitted to a Hospital. However the MLA has denied the charge and has said that he was not involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, district police filed a chargesheet against the accused but it does not include the name of the MLA. But the police registered charges against Patel for using fake documents to claim the land stretch. To prevent any arrest relating to use of fake documents the MLA filed for anticipatory bail.

At the time of the alleged scuffle, he was not present at the spot, they said. "The police then falsely implicated him in the fake document case though he had no role in it," they said. The judge has reserved the order on November 11.
Patel is also caught up in a land case in Ambli village on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
The land owners have alleged that the MLA has grabbed the land by using fake power of attorney. The case is pending with the Supreme Court.
