Security has been tightened across Bihar in view of the two-day bandh called by banned CPI (Maoist) from tomorrow against Centre's move to intensify anti-Naxal operations.

"Tight security has been put in place in Naxal-hit areas in Bihar in view of the shutdown," additional director general of Police (HQ), Neelmani, said.

All police stations in Naxal-hit districts of Gaya, Nawada, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and Madhubani would remain on high-alert to effectively tackle the Naxalites, he said.

Extra security personnel have been deployed at vital installations, including railway stations and its premises, which are considered as the soft-target of the ultras, he said.

Additional companies of Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) and Bihar Military Police besides central paramilitary personnel have been deployed in these areas, Neelmani said.

The spokesman of Bihar-Jharkhand-Orissa-Chhattisgarh special area committee of CPI(Maoist), Gopal, had on October 9, given a call for the state-wide bandh to protest against the Centre's move to trample their so-called revolutionary movement.
