Key absconding accused in nurse Bhanwari Devi abduction case Sahiram Bishnoi, who carried a reward of Rs five lakh, today surrendered before the special court which also issued arrest warrants against five others, including sister of Congress MLA Malkhan Singh.

Considered close to sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna, already behind bars, Sahiram, who was on the run since Bhanwari Devi went missing on September one, appeared before the special court here which remanded him in CBI custody till January two.

His counsel Ramavtar Sigh Choudhary told the court that Bishnoi was on a "pilgrimage" for the past three months and when he learnt that his property was being attached and his family members were being allegedly harassed by the CBI, he reached the city and surrendered before the court.

"After sustained interrogation and widespread search operation by CBI, absconding accused Sahiram surrendered today in the Special Court at Jodhpur," CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said in New Delhi.

She said further investigation is on to unearth the larger conspiracy so as to identify the other conspirators and perpetrators of this crime and recovery of Bhanwari Devi.

One of the key accused Shahbuddin has told CBI that he had abducted Bhanwari in September on the directions of Bishnoi, CBI sources said.

Later in the day, the court also issued arrest warrant against five people including Indira Bishnoi, sister of arrested MLA Malkhan Singh, and kin of another accused Sohan Ram Bishnoi.

So far, CBI has arrested Maderna, Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, Bhanwari's husband Amar Chand, Shahbuddin, Baldev and Sohan Ram in connection with the case.

Others against whom arrest warrants were issued today are Dinesh, nephew of Sohan Ram; Pukhraj, Sohan Ram's son; Kailash Bishnoi, a member of Bishnaram Bishnoi gang and Umesh Kareer, an aide of Sahiram Bishnoi.

Pukhraj and Dinesh have also filed application for anticipatory bail which will be heard tomorrow.

Indira Bishnoi has already been grilled by the CBI a few times and is now untraceable.

Bhanwari, posted as auxiliary nurse and midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, around 120 kms from Jodhpur, went missing on September 1 and Maderna is accused of having a role in her disappearance.

A CD allegedly showing Maderna in compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse had come to light after which she went missing.

A charge sheet against three other accused persons in this case has also been filed by CBI before the special court here on December 2, 2011 under a number of charges including criminal conspiracy and kidnapping with an intent to kill.

"CBI has announced a reward of Rs10 lakh for providing information leading to recovery of Bhanwari Devi. Besides a reward of Rs Five lakh has also been announced for credible information on the whereabouts of another absconding accused Bishna Ram Bishnoi," Mishra said.

CBI started probe in the case on October 11, 2011 on the request of Rajasthan Government.

The case was earlier registered by Rajasthan Police on September 5, 2011.
