Avanashilingam university making bid to enter Guinness Book of World Records

A women's university in Coimbatore has painted and written about women and their achievements on a five-km long white canvas,on the occasion of women's day.

A women's university here has made a bid to make an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records by painting and writing about women and their achievements on a five-km long white canvas,on the occasion of Women's day. 

The event was organised by Avanashilingam University for Women, where more than 10,000 women, including students,
their mothers, sisters and relatives took part.    Titled 'Largest Painting in numbers', the event was judged by three Guinness representatives.

The canvas was painted or written, eulogising women and also creating awareness about women's achivevements, during the one hour event, N Murugan, an organiser, told PTI. 

The current record--a canvas painting of 2.6 km in length with 957 persons, both men and women, taking part-- is held by a school in China whereas in this event 10,458 women participated, he said.

Mona Raju Vipani, a Guinness record holder for applying 'mehandi' on the hands of brides continuously for 24 hours,
was the main judge, along with Jan Jose an  industrialist and
Ramesh, an advocate.

The video clipping would be sent to London and after proper verification,the entry into the Book would be intimated, Murugan said.
