Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy tonight rejected the resignations of three Telangana MLAs, two Congress MLAs and one Praja Rajyam Party MLA after they met the former tonight and reportedly requested to "not accept" their resignations.
The two Congress MLAs were R Damodar Reddy and Cheruku Mutyam Reddy while the PRP legislator was Maheshwar Reddy.
While official sources confirmed the speakesr’s decision, they did not disclose the reasons for rejection of the three MLAs' resignations.
The three MLAs submitted their resignations to the Speaker along with 10 TRS and one BJP MLA on February 14.
While the Speaker accepted the TRS and the BJP MLAs' resignations, he kept his decision pending with regard to the two Congress and one PRP legislators.
The speaker also accepted a TDP MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu's resignation, which was submitted in December last on the Telangana statehood issue.
The PRP MLA joined hands with the Congress duo and met AICC leaders in New Delhi to express their resentment over the Terms of Reference for the Srikrishna Committee, formed to look into the contentious issue.
The Congress high command, however, took a serious view of the two MLAs' resignation and directed them to withdraw it immediately.
Damodar Reddy and Mutyam Reddy met the Speaker late tonight along with state Labour Minister R Venkat Reddy (Damodar’s brother) and reportedly requested Kiran Kumar Reddy to not accept their resignations.
Maheshwar Reddy, who was also present, too made a similar plea, the sources said, adding "accordingly, the speaker rejected their resignations," they added.
