Temples in the city are busy preparing for the festival that is observed on the ninth day of Chaitra month of Hindu calendar.
Chanting of shlokas and hymns and day-long fasts will mark the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama, on Tuesday. Lord Swaminarayan’s birth anniversary will also be observed on the same day. Temple authorities expect lakhs of devotees to attend the morning havan.
Speaking to DNA, Suman Chaudhary, head of Gayatri Mandir, Ghatlodia said that after the morning havan, there will be ‘Prasad’ for all. He further added, “Every year, we receive good response from devotees on this day. Around 500-800 people from different areas come to the temple to attend the grand Satsang.”
Sharing details about the Ram temple at Drive-in road, the media coordinator of Janki Seva Samiti, Lal Bihari said that more than 10,000 devotees are expected to be present to witness the havan and maha aarti at the temple.
Talking about decorations, a priest at Satyanarayan temple, Ghatlodia, Haridasji said that the idol of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Laxman will be decorated with flowers.
The birth anniversaries of Lord Rama and Lord Swaminarayan fall on the same day. On the day of Swaminarayan Jayanti, as the day is known, Swaminarayan temples in the city will celebrate the occasion with great zeal and fervour.
More than 10,000 Swaminarayan devotees are expected to be part of the celebrations. Speaking to DNA, Acharya Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj of Maninagar Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan said, “Apart from celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Swaminarayan, we are also planning a social welfare activity. We will not only plant around 3,000 trees but will also water it regularly and take care of it for 10 years.”
