2 killed, 3 injured after tree falls on cab in Kolkata

Two persons were killed and three more injured when a large tree fell on a moving cab near the Victoria Memorial today, the police said.

Shymal Mishra, 42, and his daughter Ananya Mishra, 12, were killed and his wife Munni Mishra, 32, elder daughter Ananya Mishra, 15, and the driver of the vehicle Sukanta Nandi were seriously injured in the accident, joint commissioner of police (crime) Damayanti Sen said.

Two of the passengers were declared 'brought dead' after they were rushed to the SSKM hospital. Others were being treated for serious injuries, Sen said.

Sen said why the tree suddenly got uprooted was being investigated.
