Seems like just days after BJP-Shiv Sena government completed one year in Maharashtra, the alliance has run into hot water.
Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Friday publicly tendered his resignation from the government in a rally in presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray. Today was the last day of campaign for the upcoming Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) elections, where Sena has decided to contest alone. Shinde said that their suggestions are not being taken by the Fadnavis government.
Uddhav Thackeray however refused to accept the resignation. But he said that currently the state government is riding on a high and if they don't mend their ways they may be forced to withdraw support from the Fadnavis government.
Reacting to this entire incident, CM Fadnavis said that Sena leaders are just resorting to theatrics to attract attention. From allowing Pakistanis in Maharashtra to beef ban issue, Sena and BJP have been at loggerheads for some time now. However Sena so far has stopped short of pulling the plug from the alliance.
