Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari will hold a roadshow in Amethi later today, accompanied by actor-turned-party nominee Smriti Irani who is pitted against Congress vice president and sitting MP Rahul Gandhi and AAP's Kumar Vishwas.
Gadkari will reach Amethi by air, senior party leader Kashi Tiwari said, adding that the roadshow will begin from Devi-Patan, a place famous for its Durga temple. Later in the evening, Gadkari is scheduled to address a street corner meeting in Amethi, which is considered as the pocket borough of the Gandhi family. Earlier today, BJP candidate Irani held several meetings with party workers at Trilokpur, Matiyar Baghaura, Munshiganj and Kanaksinghpur villages in Amethi Assembly segment.
Meanwhile, Irani's opponent Vishwas today met villagers of Banwaria in Jagdishpur Assembly segment. AAP media manager in Amethi Viplav Awashthi said that the villagers had assured Vishwas of their support in the Lok Sabha elections.
