The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear on July 24 a plea of AAP leader Kumar Vishwas who has joined others including Congress leader Digvijay Singh in seeking apex court-monitored CBI probe in Vyapam scam cases. A bench comprising Justices TS Thakur, V Gopala Gowda and R Banumathi, before whom the plea was mentioned for urgent hearing, said that the concerned bench would hear the petition on July 24. Besides seeking a court-monitored probe, Vishwas has also sought a direction that the CBI be provided adequate facilities and man power to probe the scam. The plea has also said the assistance of whistle-blowers be taken by CBI in the ongoing probe.

Earlier, the court had ordered transfer of probe into all Vyapam scam cases and the deaths allegedly linked to it to CBI and sought response from Madhya Pradesh Government on why an FIR should not be lodged against the Governor for his purported involvement in the scandal. Issuing notices to the Centre, Madhya Pradesh Government and Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on the plea seeking his removal from the gubernatorial post, the apex court had transferred the probe of all cases and alleged deaths connected to Vyapam from the the Special Investigation Team(SIT) and the Special Task Force (STF) to the CBI with the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government which after initially refusing, acceded to the demand for a free and fair probe.

The court is hearing a bunch of petitions including the plea filed by Digvijay Singh.
