Kamduni rape and murder case: Sessions court sentences 3 convicts to death, 3 get life imprisonment

Six of the total eight were held guilty in the case by the same court on Thursday.

The Sessions Court in Kolkata sentenced three of the six convicts,  Amin Ali, Shaiful and Ansar Ali, to death and three others Sk. Emanul, Aminul Ali and Bhola Naskar were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Kamduni rape and murder case.

The quantum of punishment was announced by magistrate Sanchita Sarkar.

Six of the total eight were held guilty in the case by the same court on Thursday. Two others Rafikul and Noor Ali were acquitted from the case.

On June 7, 2013, a BA second year student was allegedly gang-raped and murdered inside an isolated compound at Kamduni village, while she was returning home from her college. Her body was found the next day.

Nine were arrested in connection with this case. Gopal Naskar, one of the arrested persons, died of fever and septicaemia in custody on August 1, 2015, while the other eight were sent to judicial custody.
