Jammu & Kashmir: UGC NET exam postponed amidst protest

Amidst the deteriorating law and order condition in the state, UGC–NET exams scheduled to be in Srinagar (J&K) has been postponed, as reported by ANI.

The final date of the exam has not been declared yet. 

Burhan Wani, commander of Hizbul Mujhaideen was killed in an encounter by Indian Army in Anantnag district on Friday. The poster boy of the outfit was quite famous among locals and a number of people turned up for his funeral.

His death triggered protests in South Kashmir on Saturday leading to death of eight people, and injury to 11, including three policemen. 

The protestors pelted stones at police posts and police stations at Bandipora, Qazigund and Larnoo in Anantnag district and also attacked BJP office in Kulgam. Apart from that, violent protests were also held in Mir Bazaar and Damhaal Hanjipora in Kulgam district and Warpora in Sopore township of Baramulla district.
