Governors will need President's nod before travelling outside state

Governors will also have to explain last minute travel plans, and will have to send​ request for permission from Rashtrapati Bhavan to travel outside the state at least one to six weeks ahead.

Before travelling outside the state, now governors will have to take prior permission from the President. Also, governors are now barred from spending more than 10 weeks on official visits.

According to the new 18-point set of rules notified by home ministry joint secretary Kumar Alok on February 10, in emergent or extra-ordinary circumstances no visit shall be undertaken by the governors without prior intimation to the President’s Secretariat, reported an English daily.

Governors will also have to explain last minute travel plans, and will have to send request to Rashtrapati Bhavan​ for permission to travel outside the state, at least one to six weeks before travelling.

Report also says that governors will have to send detailed itinerary to the President for every official visit and Prime Minister’s principal secretary Nripendra Misra and home minister Rajnath Singh will have to be marked on every request.
