The forest department and volunteers have been busy in south Chennai thanks to a monkey addicted to chocolates. Kids in the Sembakkam area began feeding the monkey chocolates and biscuits and the monkey apparently got a taste for them. It ended up biting 38 people, including 25 kids, in the area.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, the monkey started to follow a young boy who fed the monkey these eatables. Since it went hungry after a few days, it started to attack the people for want of food. The chocolates seem to have played havoc as the monkey refused to eat bananas which it normally likes.

The monkey was finally captured after a four-day chase by forest officials and volunteers and sent to the Vandalur zoo. People have been warned by conservationists not to feed wild animals with human food.
