After four days of rest, the Opposition parties — armed with issues like Board exam paper leak and communal riots in Bihar and West Bengal — will again be testing their vocal cords in a fresh onslaught on the Modi government.

On Monday, the Congress and other non-NDA parties, especially Trinamool Congress and Left parties, are expected to put the PNB bank fraud and Rafale scam on the back-burner for the time being, and demand discernible action from the BJP government on the burning issues in Parliament.

The BJP and most of the opposition parties have issued whip to ensure full presence of their members to counter each other. However, the last four days of the Budget Session are expected to end up in disruptions, making it one of the least productive sessions in the past several years.

As the paper leak issue has affected over 20 lakh students — a majority of them from middle-class families — besides the Opposition parties, like Trinamool Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), even some NDA partners like Shiv Sena are expected to join the protests.

"There cannot be any other demand, but the resignations of HRD minister Prakash Javadekar and CBSE chairman Anita Karwal. All the affected families and students are asking for it and we in the Opposition are duty bound to echo that demand in the Parliament," said a Congress leader.

With Bihar police naming many BJP activists in the FIRs for inciting communal riots in Samastipur, Aurangabad, Munger etc., the Opposition is unlikely to leave any stone unturned over the issue.

"The Bihar police have named Mohan Patwa in Samastipur and Anil Singh, both BJP activists, as responsible for inciting violence in Samastipur and Aurangabad. It is a telltale design of attempts to create polarisation before the approaching Lok Sabha elections. How can the Modi government, which is a ruling ally in Bihar, escape its responsibility. It will have to face our questions and show some solid action," RJD sources said.

Trinamool MPs, sources said, also have been asked to keep the heat on the Modi government and "expose" the handiwork of Sangh Parivar in inciting the violence in Asansol.

On the other hand, the BJP, that sent a delegation to Asansol under Rajya Sabha member OM Mathur, would be countering the Opposition parties, especially Trinamool, for deliberately stoking violence against Hindus and trying to use state repression to silence them. It will also take up the involvement of RJD activists, who have also been named by Bihar police, in incidents of communal violence.
