On day three of the Karnataka imbroglio, with one more MLA turning up alongside Congress leaders, Operation Kamala seemed to have fizzled out. Congress MLA LBP Bheema Naik joined his party colleagues at a guest house in Bengaluru who were gathered there. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge declared in New Delhi that the Congress-JD(S) government is "stable and strong and will continue to be so".

The tilting of the scales seemed to have been a consequence of the lack of involvement of the BJP's central leadership, who feel that the state unit should have instead worked on highlighting the failures of the JD(S)-Congress government in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

In Mumbai, the Karnataka minister assured that the government is stable.

The Congress had dispatched trouble-shooter DK Shivakumar to Mumbai to bring in the three MLAs holed up in a hotel

"We'll try to accommodate an independent MLA and are in touch with Congress MLAs. They will attend the CLP meeting in Bengaluru," Shivakumar told reporters on Wednesday.

Additionally, all of the MLAs of the JD(S) convened in Bengaluru where they have been instructed to stay put till further instructions.

Even as BS Yeddyurappa and V Somanna were scheduled to leave for Bengaluru on Wednesday night, the BJP asked all its MLAs to stay put in Manesar, near Gurugram for two more days. Sources said that 104 BJP MLAs have been camping in a resort in Manesar after attending the party's national council which ended on Sunday.

Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa took a meeting of party MLAs on Wednesday. BJP sources suggest that amid allegations that some of the BJP MLAs are in touch with Congress, the party is keeping its MLAs intact. Sources said that the BJP can open its card only after the Congress side weakens with its MLAs withdrawing support to the Kumaraswamy government. When such an event occurs, we will open our card, BJP sources say.

The coordination for a possible government formation is being done by the state leaders only. In the run up to the 2019 elections, the central leaders do not want to take the blame, sources said.
