Anantapur Lok Sabha Constituency 2019: Parliamentary election in Anantapur will be held in the first phase which is scheduled to take place on April 11. The key candidates for the upcoming election are going to be BJP’s Hamsa Devineni, Congress’ Kuncham Rajeev Reddy, YSR Congress Party's Talari Rangaiah and TDP’s JC Pavan Reddy.

JC Diwakar Reddy, TDP is  the sitting MP in Anantapur who won with a margin of 61,269 votes in 2014 general elections. He had defeated Anantha Venkatarami Reddy of the YSRCP who secured 1,536,912 votes. 

Anantapur has a total population of 4,083,315, according to 2011 census data. Due to the presence of Maoists in the region, the district has remained economically backward. Anantapur is among 13 districts in the state which are under the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme and the economic growth here largely depend on agriculture activities.

Anantapur parliamentary election results in 2014, 2009 and 2004

 

2014: JC Divakar Reddi (M) of the TDP secured 606509 votes. He defeated Anantha Venkatarami Reddy (M) of the YSRCP who got 545240 votes.

2009: Jaya Surya Prakash (M) of the Congress got 382668 votes. He defeated BT Naidu(M) of the TDP who secured 308895 votes.

2004: Anantha Venkatarami (M) of the Congress received 457876 votes in 2004. He defeated Kalava Srinivasulu (M) of the TDP who secured only 379955 votes. 

Lok Sabha election 2019 in all 25 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh will be held on April 11. The state will also see simultaneous assembly election 2019. The counting of votes of both the elections will be done on May 23.
