On Wednesday, following the fracas between AAP MLAs and Delhi bureaucrats, the Indian Police Service reiterated their support for Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

They wrote on Twitter: “We stand with Mr Anshu Prakash at this moment. Officers expect dignity and self-respect to be protected.

Earlier, the IAS Twitter handle had written: “Central IAS Association strongly condemns the shocking attack on the Chief Secretary of Delhi and calls for immediate arrest of the perpetrators of this shameful act.”

Provoked by an attack on Delhi's chief secretary, allegedly by some AAP MLAs, bureaucrats said they would boycott all meetings called by Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues till the chief minister apologised for the incident.

The three associations of officers of the IAS (Indian Administrative Service), DANICS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service) and DSSS (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) passed a resolution at a meeting tonight, saying that they would, however, maintain written communications with Aam Aadmi Party ministers to ensure there was no disruption in public service delivery.

"All the three associations h.Ave decided to boycott meetings called by all Delhi ministers in protest against the attack on the chief secretary by MLAs at the CM's residence," said Divisional Commissioner Manisha Saxena, who is the general secretary of the IAS officers' association.

Members of the three bodies also took out a candlelight march to Rajghat today in protest against the alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

The resolution passed by the officers' bodies said that since public interest was of paramount importance, and to ensure there was no disruption in public service delivery, the three associations would maintain formal written communication with the political executive, till the chief minister apologised for last night's attack.

The bodies alleged the "abhorrent" incident had resulted in a "serious breach of trust", and "shaken the faith" of the bureaucracy in the present political executive of the Delhi government.

Chief Secretary Prakash alleged today he was assaulted by some AAP MLAs in front of Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia at the chief minister's residence.

In his complaint to the police, Prakash said the attack on him was "premeditated" and a "conspiracy" of all those who were present at a meeting late last night at Kejriwal's residence.

he BJP today demanded resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following allegations that AAP MLAs assaulted Chief Secretary Andhu Prakash, and accused him of bringing "anarchy and lawlessness" in the city leading to a "constitutional crisis".

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Kejriwal of "raining down choicest of abuses" on Prakash and claimed that the spat was not caused by any issue of public importance but over the Delhi chief secretary's objections to his government's demand of releasing funds for advertisements praising the AAP chief.

He claimed that never before had any state witnessed such a situation in which a chief secretary was physically assaulted by the ruling party MLAs on the directions of a chief minister.

Patra alleged that AAP MLAs held the top city bureaucrat by his hands and physically assaulted him. They were encouraged by Kejriwal's use of abuses in Hindi and then slapped and mistreated him, he alleged.

Kejriwal's office had dismissed the charges as "bizarre and baseless".

"He has no moral right to continue. The BJP demands his resignation," Patra told reporters.

To a question about the AAP's accusation that the central government was using bureaucrats to corner its government, he said Kejriwal's party resorts to "deception" to hide the truth and had a habit of "crying wolf".

The AAP leader had declared himself an anarchist long back and was continuing in a similar manner, he said.

"There is a constitutional crisis in Delhi and it has been caused by the lawlessness of Arvind Kejriwal and his MLAs. The government's job is to maintain law and order and their behaviour is absolutely appalling," Patra alleged.

He claimed that the midnight anarchy was triggered by the chief secretary's invocation of a Supreme Court order on regulating government advertisements as Kejriwal and his MLAs sought more funds to "glorify" the AAP leader.

He alleged that Kejriwal was frustrated due to the disqualification of 21 party MLAs as he knew that his party would lose in the bypolls.
