Word is, that Farah Khan will direct Salman Khan for a song in Sultan. The choreographer-turned-director had stopped choreographing songs after she turned director and only does it for friends like Shah Rukh Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and her brother Sajid Khan. However, she cannot say no to Salman as their friendship dates back almost two decades. Also, Salman has made appearances in songs in Farah’s movies Om Shanti Om and Tees Maar Khan.

The song was to be choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, who lost her father recently. Vaibhavi left Mumbai to spend time with her family and since the shooting dates were already fixed, director Ali Abbas Zafar couldn’t wait. He requested Farah to step in, and since she is not busy at the moment, she agreed to help out.

Vaibhavi and Farah are friends, and she wouldn’t mind the latter filling in for her. They have judged dance shows together in the past. Says a source, “This will be Anushka Sharma’s first item song. The actress is a good dancer, but not really known for her dance moves. She is excited about it and was spotted rehearsing at a dance hall in Versova every day the last week. It’s not a romantic but full-blown grand, dance number — an item song with Anushka and Salman and 100 dancers shot from March 5 to 10. A huge set has been set up at Film City in Sunil Maidan where a village of Punjab with havelis, etc have been constructed giving it an earthy, rustic feel. Everybody is YRF has been told not to talk about it at all so everything has been kept under wraps.”
