One Direction star Niall Horan is stunned and saddened by the British public's decision to leave the European Union.

Millions took to the polls to vote on June 23 and a slim majority chose to exit the EU. This means the United Kingdom is destined to withdraw from the 28-state European Union, which was assembled after World War II.

Many musicians were quick to offer up their thoughts and feelings about the historic decision, with Damon Albarn, James singer Tim Booth, Lily Allen, and Bastille among the first stars to go public with their dismay, and now Irish pop star Horan has chimed in, revealing he is deeply disturbed by the "Brexit" vote.

"It's a sad day," he tweeted.

"The economic impact that this is going to have is definitely going to make those voters regret their decision." Politically-aware Horan, 22, also attacked Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party, who was among those who led the campaign to leave the EU.
