Domestic carriers IndiGo and GoAir cancelled around 50 flights on Wednesday as almost one-third of their A320 Neo aircraft fleet remained grounded for the third day following a safety directive by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
In Delhi, IndiGo cancelled 13 arrivals and 18 departure flights, while GoAir cancelled 2 arrival and 2 departure flights.
It was 5.30 am on Monday when IndiGo fight Ahmadabad -Lucknow, an A320, was grounded after the pilots declared full emergency. There were 186 passengers and crew on the plane that reported failure of engine number two, midair. Seven departures were delayed as operations halted because of the full emergency landing at Ahmedabad.
