Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Friday declared the 500 meter radius area around Somnath and Ambaji temple premises as no non-veg zone. Rupani was here as a part of state-level celebrations of Republic Day at the famous pilgrimage Ambaji in the district located in the lap of Aravalli mountain range.
He said, "There has been a huge demand from a large chunk of people who have deep faith in deities such as Ambaji and Somnath that the sanctity of these premises should be maintained by declaring no non-veg zone here. Showing sensitivity to their feelings, my government, hereby declares that the 500 meter radius area around the premises of these two temples will be no non-veg zone and no one will be allowed to cook, cater or consume non-veg food in these zones."
He also made an announcement that the entire spire of the Ambaji temple would be plated in gold. He donated 10gm gold for this and also invited donors to make donations for the plating of the spire.
Prior to this, in the morning, Rupani also announced that his government promises lakhs of jobs and houses for all by 2022. The chief minister addressed the Youth Conference held in Palanpur and said that his government was committed to generating lakhs of jobs for the youth in the state.
He said, "Lakhs of employment opportunities will be generated by the end of this financial year. Foundation stone for investment works of Rs 1.11 lakh crore will be laid and inaugurated in the state by 450 companies. Before independence, "Die for the Nation" was the mantra for the youth and now, the youth should adopt the mantra of "Live for the Nation" for the development of Nation."
