Rasputin was born in a remote Siberian village to peasant parents. His father was an illiterate farmer.

3.Rasputin spent several months at a monastery

In 1897, Rasputin went on a pilgrimage to the Saint Nicholas Monastery at Verkhoturye. There, he changed completely and returned to his village as a totally changed man. For next few years, Rasputin travelled around the country as a self-styled holy man. Rasputin claimed to have powers to heal the sick and that's why he was introduced to Czar and his wife because their only son was suffering a from a life-threatening disease.
4.Rasputin described himself as a “Christ in miniature”

According to biographer Frances Welch, Rasputin once told the Russian Czar that he was 'Christ in miniature'.
5.Rasputin was assassinated in 1916

Rasputin was shot dead by Prince Felix Yusupov on December 29, 1916.
