Streets remained deserted and security was tightened in many parts of the world to maintain COVID-19 protocols during the new year 2021 celebrations.
People across the world are welcoming the new year. As they bid goodbye to 2020, many took a sigh of relief at the end of what was a devastating year because of the coronavirus pandemic. More than 1.7 million people have died worldwide and 82 million got infected with COVID-19 in 2020.
The New Year 2021 celebrations remain muted all over the world, as the fear of the pandemic still remains. Despite the beginning of vaccination drives against COVID-19 in a few countries, the new strain of coronavirus kept many indoors. The governments also instructed the citizens to celebrate the new year with their loved ones at homes.
