After launching the 'disappearing messages' feature last year, WhatsApp is reportedly working on 'self-destructing photos' feature in a future update for iOS and Android. WaBetaInfo has shared the screenshots of the feature, which suggest that a photo will disappear once the receiver opens it and leaves the chat.

On Wednesday, WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: "WhatsApp is working on self-destructing photos in a future update for iOS and Android. Self-destructing photos cannot be exported from WhatsApp. WhatsApp didn't implement a screenshot detection for self-destructing photos yet. Same concept from Instagram Direct."

In the screenshots shared by Wabetainfo, a small icon for self-destructing photos is seen near the chatbox. The icon is placed right next to the option of adding pictures, videos and contacts. Once the mode is turned on, the picture will vanish as soon as you leave the chat.

WaBetaInfo has also reported that a WhatsApp user won't get an option to save the disappearing photo in their phone gallery or forward them to other contacts. The cited source also asserted that the company hasn't yet implemented the screenshot detection feature for self-destructing photos.

WhatsApp has also rolled out the ability to import custom animated sticker packs in the app. The feature is available for Android and iOS users in India, Brazil, and Indonesia. n order to use this feature, you need to be on WhatsApp version 2.21.3.19 or newer on Android and 2.21.31.2 or newer on iOS.

Earlier, on Monday, WhatsApp took to Twitter to announce the new Mute Video feature for Android users globally. The feature lets users mute the audio on video files before they share it on their status as well. The feature is available only for Android devices for now, and availability on iOS is not yet confirmed.

WhatsApp wrote on Twitter: "For your eyes, not your ears. You can now mute the audio on your videos before adding them to your Status or sending in chat. Now available on Android." The new Mute Video feature can be found on the video-editing screen.
