When love and hate collide on Valentine’s Day, you get innovative, and what many would term as bizarre revenge ideas. Creepy, crawly reptiles and insects are clearly having their moment in the sun as jilted lovers plan and plot their revenge. It’s not the healthiest way to deal with a break-up, but it is clearly a popular one. Here’s how the animal world stepped in to mark Anti-Valentine’s Day celebrations.

1. NAMING A ROACH AFTER AN EX

As part of their “Quit Bugging Me” campaign, participants were encouraged to message the El Paso Zoo (in the US) on Facebook with the name of their ex. To mark Valentine’s Day, the cockroaches will be fed to the meerkats and other animals. Now that’s one way of cutting off ties without any fire.

2. NAME A ROACH AFTER YOUR FRIEND’S EX

If you have been witness to a tragic romance, and seen a loved one suffer through it all, and now cope with heartache, you can have your revenge by naming a roach after that person’s ex.  The Helmsley Conservation Centre in the UK has started the “Name a Cockroach” campaign. Launching today, just in time for Valentine’s Day, for $3 you can name a cockroach after one of your most hated exes.

3. FEED A BEAR A SALMON NAMED AFTER YOUR EX

For a 20$ donation, The Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center in the US is allowing you to put you ex’s name on a salmon, which is then fed to a 1,000-pound bear. As a momento, you get to keep a special certificate and photos of the bear devouring the salmon.

4. GIVE A SNAKE YOUR FORMER LOVER’S NAME

Wild Life Sydney Zoo, on the other hand, is encouraging people to name a snake after an ex and to donate 55 p to the Wildlife Conservation Fund. Apart from naming a venomous reptile after an ex, there’s also a certificate given to the winner,  and a chance to visit the snake for free everyday for the next year.

5. PLAY WITH FIRE

If none of these do the trick for you, closer home you can head to Phoenix Market City, and try your hand at some ‘Anti-Valentine’ games. Unwind with a few shots, party with your single friends at Anti-Valentine events in the city. If you are in the capital head to Delhi-based Gastronomica Kitchen and Bar, who is offering free shots to everyone who can burn their ex’s photo on Valentine’s Day. If playing with fire is not your thing, head to The Irish House in Delhi to down your sorrows, and vent your anger by smashing the piñata and dumping your ex’s stuff.
