Designer diary: Salman's fab act, Pari's tent dress and more

Went to the movies, and this time with a lot of expectations as it was Kapoor & Sons. This Fawad boy just blew my brains away. Everyone from Rishi Kapoor to Ratna Pathak Shah and from Rajat Kapoor to Alia Bhatt are outstanding. But what I really liked about the film was the coming out of the closet scene of Fawad. It was done with such finesse. Totally unlike how gays are portrayed in Hindi films. And Fawad saying that he is just so tired of living a lie is such a powerful moment. We all have our little secrets but we are always ready to pull some one else down, when we indulge in harmless gossip. I must say, we need to look at ourselves first. Anyway, that's a lot of gyaan. I was in Dubai for an award show recently and didn't know what to expect with SRK, Salman (Boss) and Big B and the entire industry being at the same place at the same time. Boss and I landed and went straight for rehearsals.

The following day I saw Ranveer Singh perform to Amitabh Bachchan's songs. He wore a wig and it kept shifting and he kept turning it around... ufff. Parineeti Chopra's foil printed gown was such a distraction. I guess she came ready for the rains in a multipurpose tent dress. The trail of the dress started in Dubai and ended in Abu Dhabi. Boss' performance was just fab. He performed to songs of Sunny Deol, SRK, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and many other actors. His act was super, ditto for Kareena, Jacqueline, SRK and Varun. I was doubly happy because two of my sweetest friends won awards Priti (Shahani) for Talvar, and Amar Butala for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. We all did our bit by hooting and clapping and then headed to the hotel where we danced the night away with Daisy Shah, Huma Qureshi, SRK and Jacqueline Fernandez. And that was not short of any one's expectations.
