The clash between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi was important for a variety of reasons. A win for either side would put them closer to the playoff spot while a loss could increase the pressure with five teams in the fray for three spots. Devdutt Padikkal was the star for Royal Challengers Bangalore with a brilliant 74 but it was Jasprit Bumrah who became the third Mumbai Indians bowler to take 100 wickets in the IPL while a fantastic knock from Suryakumar Yadav, who was excluded from the Indian squads for the tour to Australia, helped Mumbai Indians secure a five-wicket win and close in on the playoff berth. Mumbai Indians now have 16 points and need only one win to ensure a spot in the playoffs while for Royal Challengers Bangalore, this was their second consecutive loss and their next two games are very crucial for the playoff race. Mumbai Indians will now take on Delhi Capitals while Royal Challengers Bangalore face a tricky assignment against Sunrisers Hyderabad and third placed Delhi Capitals in their last two league encounters.
